Another week down

Well week two has been a blur. We set up our insurances, settled into the room we have at my parents and sent Dax to vacation bible school. All in all we are settled, so now begins the process of really figuring out where to go from here. Working with my brother has been cool, but it is still contruction so we'll see how that goes. The heat is unbelievable, I got a little dehydrated today from playing golf. (Mae it was really hot). I am finally being able to do what I came here to do though which is hear from God. I am building my life on him and not trying to fit him into my schedule. It has been really refreshing. I still miss many people in WA, but i know that God is making me into who i am supposed to be and I love it. Let me know how you are if you read this.

First Week

Well we have been in AL for a week and man let me tell you it is HOT as you know what. I am breaking a sweat when I just think about going outside. AC is one of God's greatest inventions. Anyway we are getting settled in and trying to sort out where we go from here and what we are going to do when we grow up. For the time being I am working for my brother helping him finish a few construction projects. I am looking into several seminaries trying to discern what is the best fit for our family.

I have had many people as me if I miss Washington and my response has been that I miss the climate, but most of all I miss the people, particularly the students. You guys really are a part of who we are as a family and I want you all to keep in touch as we grow over the next months and years. I will try to post our happenigs and what we are learning so you will be informed.

I am learning that I must immerse myself in God's work if I am to have anything of value to share with people. Please pray that I will be diligent in reading and studying God's word,

Update from OK City

We have finally arrived in Oklahoma City and we are staying a great hotel for the evening. We got stuck in Amarillo for a while because of the new car again. The good news is that I know it is not a problem with the transmission, the bad news is that they cannot figure it out. There appears to be some electrical short that is giving the motor some bad info causing the car to loose power in certain situations. We are covering a lot of road over the next two days so pray for safety and no car issues. I don't have any pictures because all you would see is the Nissan dealership.

We chose not go the Grand Canyon because we wanted to defer the trip to another time we might be able to better experience it with the boys. The delay with the car also contributed to the decision. Don't worry we will go back and spend some time because what we saw on the drive was magnificent.

The boys are doing great and really enjoy time with their uncles, aunt and cousins. We miss everyone in the NW terribly, but we know that we will see you at some point in the future.

Homeward......

I knew I should have......

Remember in the Bugs Bunny cartoons when he always ended up in the wrong place he said, "I knew I should have taken a left in such and such." well today was one of those days and to get you up to speed I need to fill in a few details. Two days ago we hit a piece of tire tread in Salt Lake that ripped up my motor home and both trailers. Today while driving in the desert I threw a rick and hit the windsheild of our brand new truck and put a huge crack in it. And to top it all off the trnasmission messed up on the new truck I bought that would pull the trailer and not burn up the transmission. And to ice it off we died in the one place that had no phones or cell service for 45 miles. (I am not exaggerating) Money is runnig short and time is creeping in and we still have half the country to cover. At this point I began to question if this is worth it and if my journey was one of significance or selfishness. But this is what happens in life, you experience life and life is messy and hard and exciting and frustrating all at the same time, but it is life. I want experiences and I will not allow the pain of experience to rob me of who I am destined to become. I have felt God more fully outside of my routine and know that He wants my whole life and this is the path that will take me there. So here are a few pictures from the journey. NAd i encourage you to find your messy life.

The saga continues

We have finally made ot out of Oregon. We are in Provo, Utah and headed to the grand canyon tomorrow. We are excited to see one of the greatest scenes in our country. As you can guess, we are tired, but we are really enjoying the trip. Thanks for all of your prayers for safety.

Fear, the great unkown

We stopped at Mcdonald's last night for a really late lunch/supper. The kids were playing in the play place and Emily was able to get Dax all the way to the top of the two story structure. When he got there though the "tube" to get from one side tothe other was mesh and he could see how high he was and he froze and turned around and came down. Now please do not hear any dissappointment becasue i want my 2 year old to be afraid of things at this point, but it showed me how crippling fear is. We allow our fears to accomplish anything great. We often times cannot pinpoint our fear, but it will stop us a nd make us go "home". The one place that we think we have isolated from anything unknown. I can no longer afford to be afraid in my life. I want everything God has planned for my family which means we must risk, so risk we shall.

This trip is part of that risk, we have left the safety of one place for the unknown of another. We are risking daily in the adventures we live, but we are gaining the rewards from those risk in memories that will never fade.

Chase the dream, live the life God's imagined....

Whew - Long Day

We have been driving all day. We drove from Astoria to Ontario, Oregon. I am going to bed, but we will post some stuff in the morning.

Life's a beach

Well today has been a fun time hanging out with family down in Seaside and Cannon Beach. We walked around down in Seaside and Dax and I rode a little train. Matthew peddled one and crashed in turn 1, it was hilarious and we got it on video. We took a ton of pictures so here are a few so you guys can see. We are going to dinner tonight and pulling out tomorrow headed south. Enjoy.

The journey begins

We started the journey of 2800 miles today toward the physical location of Alabama. But we also continued the spiritual journey God has been taking us on over the last few years. It was very hard to leave the students we have grown to love as friends. It was a day that we will never forget as it points to the fact that God's grace is sufficient. We love all of you and miss you dearly already.

In the journey, we had a difficult start. Upon hooking up the trailers we discovered that the 4Runner was not strong enough to carry the Jeep so at 12:00we began the search for a new truck as pictured above. Fianlly at 5:00 we got on the road and hit a great deal of traffic coming through Olympia. We finally arrived at the KOA in Astoria Oregon at 10:30 pm. It has been a tiring day, but we know that we are on the jouney of a lifetime.

Until tomorrow....
